These are very … very BAD customization options. this is what you would want to show to your clients or even just friends… Google really needs a simple way to customize the LOGIN PAGE.

Hard to argue with you on that one. Google really does need to hire a few UI designers and spice up the login splash pages a bit and allow us to customize things a little better for sure.

I followed your instructions. However, the logo shows on the inbox page but it DOES NOT show on the log in page. How can I resolve this issue? Thank you in advance

Setup a webmail subdomain login specifically for your company. mail.mydomain.com

Go to http://www.google.com/a/cpanel/domain/new and type in your subdomain as the domain name, such as mail.mydomain.com – it will provide you with instructions to verify ownership and then it should start working soon after.

Google provides complete instructions on what to add as MX records. Basically you would add them as mail.domain.com in MX > ASPMX.1.GOOGLE.COM. rather than domain.com in MX > ASPMX.1.GOOGLE.COM.
